Mary Berry Leek & Shallot Quiche

With a pastry base made from butter, egg & flour and a filling of double cream and eggs this is a beautiful tasting quiche. I ditched my usual low fat quiche recipe and opted for a Mary Berry one instead and what a treat.  It was delicious !!

I used leeks grown in my allotment for the filling of the main quiche with some garlic and shallots and leftover mushrooms in the 2 smaller individual quiches.

Happy Stir up Sunday!

Today is Stir Up Sunday. The last Sunday before Advent.  I made my xmas puddings today, after soaking the fruit is brandy overnight. They are now steaming away in the slow cooker for several hours. This process makes them very moist and full of flavour. Stir-up Sunday dates back to Victorian times, when cooks prepared the Christmas pudding by stirring the mixture and adding silver coins as good luck token!
